Orlando

Has February gotten any better, you ask? Eh...according to my co-workers and me, not really. Its just been a rough month. We all need a break. Last night Josh told me, "you seem out of it." I blame it on the mental stress that comes from dealing with 10, 11, & 12 year old drama on an every day basis. It's enough to wear a girl out. We are all sick of each other and its time for Spring-Break-2014! All I really want to do during our week off is clean my floors, wash clothes, maybe workout a time or two, and get my life back in order. I don't have the energy to do more than eat dinner and veg in front of my computer screen once I get home. And I don't even have kids of my own! Sheesh. Which, by the way, tonight was a cereal-for- dinner kind of night.

Enough venting already!

Here's a recap of my Orlando trip with Josh. We started out with a speeding ticket. (I wasn't driving.)

Arrived to the Travelodge, our $49 a night motel. We decided to skimp on the hotel room so we'd have money for other things....but in hindsight....we won't do that again. I actually took a shower with the shower curtain liner (because there was no curtain) pushed to the side so that it wouldn't touch me. It was questionable to say the least. Pictured below we have: a hole in the wall, a stained window curtain, a lampshade that looks as though it was used to beat someone over the head, and an incorrectly (I think) spelled sign in the bathroom. Bear? Bare?

We were very tired and hungry when we finally arrived around 8pm and debated on whether to walk or drive to go get food. After walking long enough to realize that we needed to drive, we turned back around to get the car. Finally found this place called Anthony's where artichoke/sun dried tomato pizza and Michelob Ultra never tasted so good.

The next morning, we had a lot of touring the city to squeeze in before we went to our Broadway play, the real reason for Orlando. We ate at this little French cafe that had the best bread and jam IN THE WORLD. Forget the omelet. I will go back for the bread and jam!

Too bad we stuffed ourselves at breakfast because we found the nicest farmers market I've ever seen. Feast your eyes. It was heavenly and we couldn't justify buying a single thing. There was no fridge in the hotel and we were too full to try anything else.

There we some odd sights as we walked through downtown Winter Park. One including this guy and his rabbit. He really loved the rabbit.

We drove by Full Sail University where Josh went to school. It was a pretty neat campus...very artsy.

We also went to this sports bar upon Josh's request. Caddyshank? Something like that. You can go into this closed off room to drink beer and hit golf balls into virtual reality. For dinner we hit up a Mexican place then a cool cigar bar until it was showtime.

Fast forward to the play. We went to see a Broadway musical based off of the movie, "Once". Meh, it was okay. The odds were NOT in my favor because it didn't start until 8pm. I think I was yawning before then. We even managed to go out after the play to watch a blues band in the basement of this stinky basement bar. Ask me how much I enjoyed that. Ask me who had a hangover the next morning. Not I.

This is my favorite picture in the world. Sorry.

The best was Sunday afternoon. It was low key and I had on comfortable shoes. We ate at Tijuana Flats and then walked around the lake. The best part was this guy who had rescue birds: Parrots, a couple cockatoos, a sun conure. Did I ever mention how much I love birds? Especially when they can talk! I was completely enthralled and stood there hogging the birds while the little kids waited in line.

Bye bye Orlando....next time its Disney World or bust!!!

Blah

Well, February has not been the most stellar month so far. Three people who have impacted my life in one way or another passed away and the world has just seemed drab lately. I hate to be a complainer, but man....sometimes we are allowed to be a little gloomy.

Josh and I spent the weekend of February 1st in Orlando seeing a Broadway play called Once (based on the movie, if anyone has seen). Josh used to live there so he showed me around. We walked...a lot....and ever since we returned to Savannah, I have not gotten back into my groove and my amount of "tired" has increased exponentially. And that's saying something because I'm an old lady anyway.

My friend, Margaret, came in to visit from Atlanta last weekend and our entertainment consisted of going to a yoga class, dinner at Chipotle, a Redbox movie at my house, and a trip to Starbucks . She reminded me that she "could always count on me for a good time." That was sarcasm if you didn't pick up on it. I'm glad she's okay with keeping things low key!

The weather has been so up and down that we have pollen and ice at the same time. And...I have a terrible cold which has had me sneezing and hacking my way through the day, then living in fleece pants and an over sized sweatshirt when I get home. I even made cookies & milk for dinner two nights in a row. Nothing else seemed appetizing! Plus, it was recipe for "one-bowl-chocolate-chip-cookies" and it only makes 4! This way, there is minimal clean-up, I get to use my new Kitchen-aid, and the whole process only takes about 20 min from start to finish.  This is what happens when left to my own devices for dinner.

Valentine's Day is coming up tomorrow so I'm hoping to be completely out of my rut by then.

** I need to document our Orlando trip, so- be expecting it in the next post or so!
