Sprouts

Last weekend I finally got around to using the three little pots I got from Habersham Antiques awhile back. They looked perfect for herbs, so I kept it simple and chives were planted in all three. I kinda figured they wouldn't grow, but I have been pleasantly surprised! After I planted them we got a good rain, so I stuck them out there to soak it all up.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this:
One lonely chive sprout!

He sprouted much sooner than I expected. Since this picture was taken, all three pots now have their own fresh sprig of green poking through the dirt. I feel like they are my babies. Every morning when I go out to check on them they have grown a wee bit! Pretty exciting in my world. Maybe they will be ready for tasting in a couple weeks. I'll have to make garlic whipped potatoes and add my own fresh chives. MMmmm.

Psalms

To me, the book of Psalms is the most beautiful book in the Bible. I've always loved it, but then I loved it even more when Shane & Shane made an acoustic CD putting some of the Psalms to music. (145 is my fave & you can watch/listen....here). Shane & Shane is my go-to Pandora station. They clear my head & fill it with good things. Their simplicity is what draws me in.

I was reading this morning and Psalm 139 was the chapter of the day in my devotion book. When I was a counselor at Camp DeSoto, I remember a story being told of how a mother would read Psalm 139 to her daughter every night before bed. Ever since then, it has been one of those verses (or the whole chapter, really) that I turn to over and over.

So, go have some quiet time..read through some Psalms...it'll make the rest of your day better, I promise!

Fresh Flowers in Your Own Backyard

Somehow, I just discovered that we had a rose bush in our back yard. How did I never see this? I guess because we moved in during the winter and everything was dead. This afternoon, after my day of sitting in the sunshine, I saw a splash of pink out the window that I had never seen before. So, I broke out the one vase that I own (which was already in use holding fake hydrangeas) and snipped some roses. The real flowers took precedence for the vase, obviously. I'll go find something new tomorrow to hold the fakers. I'm on vacation, what better do I have to do tomorrow? Vase shopping it is.

So, I guess they are roses, right? They have thorns. Maybe Knockout Roses? All you flower people can correct me if I'm wrong. I don't really know my flowers....I just think they make a nice addition to the inside of my house

And I love the air bubbles up next to the stems when you put water in the vase.

I love Spring,

Soaking Up the Sun

It's finally here. My long awaited, much needed, SPRING BREAK! A necessary time for my over all well-being and ability to be pleasant upon my return to school. It is a goal of mine to soak up some sun every day on this vacation. It is something I long for when I am trapped inside the 4 walls of a stale smelling and flourescently lit portable 5 days aweek. So here I am today with my brand new straw garden hat which I am substituting for a sun hat. Don't mind the fact that the sun slips right through those holes. It actually defeats the purpose, but I like the way it looks, so that's all the counts in my book. Its quite hot really and I may have to return to a regular baseball cap for my sun-day tomorrow. But- we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. I lasted for about 3 hours out there today....birds chirping...drifting in and out of naps..and everytime I thought it was just getting too hot for me to stand it, a cool breeze would blow. So lovely.
In between my naps, I flipped through an issue of Skirt magazine and made a peach, banana, raspberry, strawberry smoothie.

And look what else I found...a sweet little rainbow peeking through the clouds.

Happy Monday! (for real this time)

Blogging

Have you missed my blogs as much as I've missed blogging? It's been awhile hasn't it? Well, just so you know- I haven't been away because I'm UNhappy. Its really quite the opposite. I've been happily busy with trips and work and trying to graduate and...other new things. Thankfully, today begins SB 2011! I don't know what I would do with out my Springs Breaks. I've literally never had a year without one. How do all you people with regular jobs survive? I couldn't do it! I plan to use by Spring Break as a "catch- up" time. The house could use some cleaning, my body could use some sleeping, my skin could use some sun, you get the picture. So, I just wanted to check in and let you all know that I haven't forgotten about ya! Talk to ya soon! Caroline

Foggy Mirror Notes

How loved do you feel when someone leaves an extra special note in an unassuming place? Pretty loved. Atleast I do. Little notes are the best, especially when they are sneakily written on a foggy mirror.

I wish my camera would've captured the one I got this week from my 3rd grade girls on the overnight field trip to the Okefenokee Swamp & Cumberland Island. I had the pleasure of chaperoning 3 of them on this trip...which includes sharing a hotel room with them...which also includes sharing a bathroom. When the last one got out of the shower, she said..."Miss Wilson! There is a surprise for you in the bathroom!" That could mean lots of things, so I entered with caution, only to find " WE LOVE MISS WILSON!!!" in little-kid handwriting...plastered across the mirror. It was sweet. I smiled.

Surprisingly, this was not my first foggy mirror note of the month...I think they may have stolen the idea from someone else ;)
